Neurovascular Diagnostics is developing a low-cost, blood diagnostic to help provide millions of Americans access to affordable screening.
Up to 17 million Americans live with unruptured intracranial aneurysms, but most never know if because aneurysms are largely asymptomatic. Each year an estimated 30,000 Americans experience an aneurysm rupture (that is one every 18 minutes) and of those, 40-50% will die. Because brain aneurysms are typically asymptomatic, and medical imaging is not suitable as an aneurysm screening tool due to risks to patients and high cost, most unruptured aneurysms remain undetected until rupture. Our blood-based diagnostic test could change the landscape of aneurysm management by enabling cost-effective screening to identify those with unruptured aneurysms.
