Our Story
Almost 18 years ago, the wife of buffalo native and entrepreneur Jeff Harvey passed away from the sudden rupture of an undetected brain aneurysm. Since then Jeff has supported the Brain Aneurysm Foundation (BAF), the largest private funder of brain aneurysm research, establishing the Carol Harvey Memorial Chair of Research grant.
Through his active involvement with the foundation, his interest in early aneurysm detection and the development of new aneurysm screening methods grew. It is through the BAF that Jeff met Drs. Hui Meng and Vincent Tutino, researchers at the University at Buffalo who had received a grant to discover a blood-based biomarker for unruptured brain aneurysms. In 2016, Jeff helped launch Neurovascular Diagnostics with Drs. Meng and Tutino to develop a low-cost blood test for detecting unruptured brain aneurysms. The underlying purpose of Neurovascular Diagnostics’ blood test is to act as a prescreen for identifying individuals who desperately need brain imaging to detect an aneurysm.
